Little Game or Treat Holder

I don't know how many of you made these paper games when you were kids but I always loved them so I've handed it down to both my children and grandchild.  You take a piece of construction paper or any paper capable of holding its shape.  You can decorate it with all sorts of colors, drawings or stickers as long as you can read the numbers on the outside.

After making a square I fold it diagonally side to side to create the mid point.

Then I fold the sides into the middle

so it becomes a smaller square.
You will see the triangle sections are creased.

Then turn it over and fold  the points into the middle just like before.

Now your square has been folded on both sides.
This side (the soon to be inside) has triangle sections with actual separations between them.

I fold it back and forth for ease of movement.

Now if you turn it upside down you have four little bins that you can use on a table at each place setting.  In each bin you can add M&Ms, candy corn, Skittles, etc.

After the treats are consumed the object becomes a game.  You can identify a prize in the end or use it like a fortune cookie. Notice the inside pieces are the sections with separations between the triangle pieces.

If you folded it correctly you can insert your fingers in to the wells on the bottom and then open or shut the hinged parts.

We used to number the sections of the outside.
Someone would pick a number, say 7.
You would open and shut it 7 times to reveal another set of numbers inside.

Again, someone would select a number.
Open and shut it that many times.

Finally select the final number.

Open the flap and reveal the prize or fortune.
A prize may be some attendance prizes at a Halloween party (make sure there is enough for all!).

When my daughters were young they made these all the time. I use to have to pick a number at least ten times a day. They are now adults. Thanks for a great memory.

Hi Kathy, we used to make these all the time when we were in school and I used to make them with our Boys, although they put some horrible things on their final reveals!!!!! Typical Boys. Also great fun at parties too. Thanks for sharing. Susie x

It's so fun to remember things we did as kids.

Yes- the kind you cut from paper and they become sort of garland plus the kind where it's a doll and you cut out the clothes with the tabs on them to secure them to the doll. I have some of those around here somewhere- or at least my daughter did. Probably stuck in a tub in the attic.
