Turned Seam Ripper

I received a surprise gift from my husband.
He is particularly fond of turning wood on his lathe,
creating beautiful pens from chunks of wood.  When I
arrived home he had created a special something for me.

At first you may wonder what sort of contraption this is,
I certainly would have if I didn't know it was my special
present to go along with all that fabric I
have stocked up in the Girl Cave.

Pull out the metal tip

Insert it into the wooden handle and it becomes
a seam ripper!  With the clip you can hook it on to your
pocket or smock while you are sewing so you know
where it is at a moment's notice.

These are some of the wooden pens he has been making.
The most popular are the one with the bolt action
(click to enlarge), favored by men so far since they
are a little heavier and thicker than some women prefer.
I love the cigar pen (middle one) with its swirls !

The image below on the left is more of the collection
and the pen on the right is mine.

AND WHERE IS HE SELLING HIS GOODS?
I love that seam ripper...and my "go to" splurge used to be office supplies too.
If I had the urge to buy something (this was years ago) I'd be at the grocer, usually wal-mart, now Dollar General...I'd always peruse the office supply isle. And buy a little something for me!
Point is both of these-- have me 'wanting'. :)

OMG I want that seam ripper! It's so purttyyy. Seriously if he decides to sell any please let me know. I sorta hoard seam rippers because I can never find the ones I know I have.

I will ask him. He has been selling the pens but I don't have a price on this. I'll let you know.

I would like to purchase one if he starts selling them. I can't find my seam ripper and really need a new one.

Your husband is a very talented man. Those pens are truly exquisite. It's nice he made you a seam ripper, it's a special gift from him to you. I need to try to do something special for my wife more often. I can't make things but I could take her to shop for clothes. She likes that.

Harry- you don't have to give her anything ( most likely). One of the best things we did was take a 4 wheeler ride down the deer trail to a clearing in the woods (our backyard) and brought a picnic. Then we just sat in lawn chairs and watched the critters that would wander by. It was wonderful to get away so close to home but be away from everyone. I'll bet you can make things though. The Backwoodsman has all those little projects that are so cool. Maybe she'd like something you could do there. I want to make that pocket stove out of a tin. I guess it depends on what she likes. I can be a bit of a tom boy so I like things like that (and frogs, snakes and lizards)

I will check into the price but they won't be inexpensive like you get at WalMart plus shipping them. I'll let you know.

Kathy, That is one fine seam ripper! Your husband has such a talent for making beautiful things! I'll bet when you go to rip seams the beauty makes it easier to rip!

Hi Connie! Thank you. I've been a little slow in posting lately but I have a couple others just waiting in the wings now that things are calming down around here.
