Keeping the Fire Burning

The fire has been burning since Christmas Eve
keeping the first floor about 70 degrees.
Upstairs is considerably cooler
but only the bedrooms and Girl Cave are upstairs.
It's OK to be a little cold upstairs,
it is better sleeping temperatures
and you get to have lots and lots of covers!

Today it reached all the way up to 39 degrees,
a veritable heat wave,
people were walking around without coats!
We may have some rain tomorrow
and I hope it washes away the ice on the road
rather than give it another frozen layer!

Keep Warm!

Fire looks warm and inviting. Hope the ice is gone by tomorrow morning.

I like the looks of that fire!

I agree with you; I'm all for cool sleeping temperatures. However, I don't think I've ever thought of an outdoor high of 39 as a heat wave. Glad things are warming up there!

Hi Kathy I know what you mean about hills and snow and ice. Although our drive is not long like yours, we do live on a hill. Unfortunately our neighbours across the road have to park on the road as their drives are too steep. So when the hill is snowy and iced over, we can creep down it as DH and I both have four wheel drives (I have a Jeep!!!) but I am so worried about sliding into all the parked cars! I love snow when you can just sit at home and watch it or go out and play, not when you need to get to work! I hope you had a lovely Christmas and Happy New Year.
I have a new site now, Blogspot and Google just wouldn't play, it is http://quilt-creations.co.uk/. Susie x

Fire looks delightful, and I'd rather sleep on the chilly side with lots of covers...so comfy..I'd love to have a place with a fireplace
some day..we're a little bit warmer here, it may rain..and wash away all the icy business...:)

We handle our fireplace the same way - going continually and always a gathering point for everyone. The great room has very high ceilings & our bedroom & loft are on the 2nd floor where we want it cooler - ceiling fans run 24/7 reversing blades for winter. Love a fireplace so much - a tad messy & dusty but worth it.

Stay cozy!

Thank you for the new link. It may be just the size of your photos, as it was for me. I just reduced them to small ( 800 x 600) which does not affect how you see them, just how much space they take up. I had reached my limit but now that I did this, they upload super fast and I have no storage issues. I open my photos - which open in Windows Photo viewer that is already on my computer. Then I select Open at the top, then Micro Soft Office Picture Manager, select Resize and on the right select Predefined Width and Height and then 800 x 600, say OK and save temporarily under some name with reized in the title. Then I post those and can go back and delete the resized ones.

Much warmer today at 14 degrees when I got up, yesterday it was 6! Won't be above freezing for a few days here. We keep our upstairs cooler too. In fact I don't turn on any heat up there. We prefer to sleep in a cooler room.

Brrr! That does sound like a heat wave to me too, haha. We've been lucky to get into the 30s here for the past few weeks.

Stay safe and warm!
I love the look of your new heater.

It's raining here, too. Just gray, wet, or cloudy, or all of the above here. ;o)

Because our upstairs is a loft, it gets warmer than downstairs. We have to be careful not to get it too hot or it's hard to sleep. Gotta love a wood stove! - Margy
