Help Google Reader- What Choice Do I Make?

I have been reading about the elimination of Google Reader and everyone's search for a new blog reading tool.  I have never used Google Reader but added the blogs I like to my sidebar; however, there are getting to be quite a few of them.

I hear Bloglovin  is the reader of choice for many but I'm a little  hesitant to sign up.  The rules say I can't violate any laws of Scandinavia???  I don't have a clue of what those laws are.  Should I sign up?

Also I am on Facebook through Networked Blogs

If you can tell me more about Bloglovin I'll check on that too.

I'm facing the same problem, and starting to feel a little bit anxious! I will check back with you to see what you find out; please post. I've read that others are going with Bloglovin, and I'm currently checking that out. But then, I've been thinking of completely going with a different platform like Wordpress. Good luck!

Is Google Reader what it goes to when I click "My Blogs?" That's where I read mine. When I first started blogging and I would click on "Google Reader," it was different than what I've always used. Maybe they were just transitioning; I don't know.

I'm following you on bloglovin'

I apparently didn't read the rules and no I don't know what the laws of Scandinavia are....giggle....I'm hoping that is a joke.

No, really. I read the rules and it was created in Scandinavia and it requires that you don't break their laws! I guess I"ll have to brush up on international law now. LOL

George- yes, Google Reader will be leaving July 1 I think and if you normally read your blogs there, you won't be able to so you either have to save to your favorites, put them on your side bar or pick a new reader.

What does it mean that Google Reader is going away? Will our blogs no longer function? Is it just the comments that will change? I'm completely in the dark. What's going to happen?

I don't know what other people do. I don't think I've ever liked Google Reader. I think I read them through the dashboard?
I use this page: http://draft.blogger.com/home
It gives me a quick synopsis of the posts.
If I want to read one, I can either quick on a link or open it in a new tab -which is what I usually do. I scan the list of posts to the last place I read, and then read all the posts I've selected to read.
Hope this makes sense, and I hope it works.

I guess in a week or so, I'll know which way I've read them before, haha.
Have a great week and good luck!

I don't know what Google reader is. So I guess I am safe.

Your blogs will work but there is a Google Reader that lots of people use to see the various posts and that will be going away. I think you can manage what and how you see it. The comments should be the same too, it just sort of a feed site.

Blogger dashboard- you can go to your dashboard and scroll down below My Blogs to see your reading lists. I guess that will stay???

I use Blogger Dashboard too and do the same as LindaG by opening the ones I want to read in a new window. I looked at Google Reader once or twice but like Dashboard better.

I switched to BlogLovin and I do love it. I get one email a day with all of my fav blogs posts listed. Not tons of emails from each blog. With bloglovin you get notice of the blog post on the same day, not the next like some email notifications come in when I subscribe by email. I can also go straight to BlogLovin website to see the blogs I follow for up to the minute posts. I can categorize each blog if I like then easily find posts by categories if I am in the mood for any particular type of blog read.

And my own blog is now on BlogLovin too. In the settings I can even have BlogLovin automatically post my current blog posts right on my facebook page too.

There are a lot of cool features, but even just the basics is fantastic. I don't miss anymore posts because of a bogged down email inbox. So glad I switched.

I only use the dashboard to view .. or those saved on the sidebar of my blogs. I don't like having my blog on FB unless I purposely post a link to a particular post. Too much connectivity makes me uneasy.
