Star Gazing

We'll be star gazing Saturday night, positioning the plastic loungers and fluffy cushions for a nice view of the Perseid meteor shower that will peak late Saturday night into Sunday morning.

I'll make some treats.
We'll have some tasty drinks.
We may have a little music in the background.
No doubt cats will be joining us!

The Perseid Meteor Shower 2012 hits its stride this weekend, late Saturday night and early Sunday morning. And what stride it will be: according to NASA, expect up to 100 meteors per hour. As an extra bonus, a waning crescent moon means that moonlight won’t completely overwhelm the meteors as they shoot across the sky.  link to meteor info

For others that are not lounging under the stars, our planetarium is having Cheap Date Night with a simulation of the shower and a showing of When Worlds Collide, classic sci-fi. That leaves plenty of time before the peak.

It sound like fun! I haven't watched the Perseids in quite a few years!

I hope the weather co-operates with you. It rarely does in my neck of the woods.

I plan to watch them for a while. (Look South and then up.)

If we have rain again tomorrow like we've had the last two days, I doubt we will see it.
Have a wonderful weekend! :o)

So cool. Thanks for the heads up. Does it matter where in the country one is located? Will I in the Northeast be able to see them?

Oh Manny, I missed your comment. You showed up in my Spam filter again. I don't know why this happens! I tell it you are not spam but there it goes again. Maybe there's a setting somewhere I am missing.
