Frog Songs

Frog Songs.  This is completely out of focus and for some reason in black and white; however, the objective was to capture the sound.  You are probably not interested in our brush pile or gravel road!  Sometimes the sound is deafening.  I find it beautiful, relaxing.  I've learned to mimic the frogs that call out during summer nights.  I can get them all excited chirping and tweeting  their little hearts out.

Take a listen. We'll be sliding in to Slumberland to this tonight.

My dog's ears really perked up when I played this. I love the sound of frogs at night.

Cool. We don't hear that in the city. I could post some noisy trucks rumbling by...lol.

Manny, that's funny. Equally funny, or strange, is that I also love the noises of the city- in moderation. My other grandmother/aunt/uncle used to live right on the main drag in Davenport IA. I'd lay in bed at night and see the old house across the street with it's neon sign advertising whatever business was now in it. Occasionally, well frequently, there were sirens. I assume ambulance/fire/police passed the house on a regular basis. Lots and lots of traffic noises, brakes squealing, horns, etc. There are times that I miss that.

Some night I'll get the coyotes howling, now that's something when they get in a frenzy and you know they are just down at the bottom of your yard.

You probably wouldn't miss it for long if you had to live in the city. Now I would love to hear the coyotes howling. :)

I'll try to capture the coyotes sometime. You never know when they will get worked up but they will wake us up if the windows are open. You can see them sometime in winter running across the deer trail. One year a friend was out here hunting and came face to face with one. They typically stay away but not this one. It stared our friend down.
