The Death of a Rose

This is what is left of my beautiful Knockout rose,
it was huge and covered with flowers last year
but the cold winter must have been too much.

I was "forced" into buying it from a co-worker
during her son's band fundraiser and it turned
out to be the absolutely best rose I ever had,
until this year that is.

You can see how tall it was in the photo below,
sitting at the corner of the porch
towering over my head and spreading like crazy.

 I'll sure miss it.

I'm sorry Kathy.

I wish it would have killed the wild ones but no such luck.

My mom let a couple old family heirloom roses die from neglect after my father died, years ago. I didn't catch them in time to do anything about it, and I'll always regret that. Sorry about yours, too.

That's a real shame. It was a pretty rose bush. My wife planted them all over, where ever we were stationed. In Italy, the soil was just right and she made a beautiful rose garden. I still remember it.
