Brush Hog for the 8N

An old brush hog was sitting near the edge of the county road
with a For Sale sign that called out to my husband each time he passed.
The gentleman who owned it was restoring a 1947 Ford 8N and this
came with the purchase price, something that he already owned.

It was just the right price and would work well on our 1951 Ford 8N.
We intend to clear out the brush and saplings around our garden area
plus along side the subdivision road where small trees are growing.
We'll do the same for the other two lots the family owns.

He has to pick up a few things before he can start cutting
but I'm looking forward to seeing some of the out of control
weeds come down in areas where it's too large to weed whip
or the lawn tractor can't handle.

If I remember, the 8N doesn't have live power. Don't ever stall it with the brush-hog in gear, or it may be the devil to get OUT of gear and restart. Been there with a Ferguson 30!

That ought to get the job done. I could use one but they cost too much around here.

Gorges, he is going to put an overrun coupler on it to take care of that.

Sunnybrook, he checked the going rates around here and it was about average. He's got about $2,800 into the tractor and all the equipment: brush hog, dirt scoop and blade. He checked the prices here for the tractor and they have been going way up.

That is sooo cool. Be careful, I think it's addictive - you might end up with a barren lot:)

Oh y'all are going to enjoy that thing!
We had a Ford 9N years back and no brush hog. But our neighbor who is passed on now, loaned us his for years! We gave it back when we sold our tractor and they wanted to buy it too...but we told 'em. Nope we have to return it. We loved that thing! Did a great job cutting.

Sounds like a great deal after all. I love it when that happens.
