Into the Belly of the Beast

Well here you have it, Gone.
Not Gone with the Wind,
Not Good as Gone
More like

Lost and Gone Forever
into the
Belly of the Beast

(yes, think of the tune to O My Darling Clementine)

The night before I had a lush crop of bush and pole beans,
green and thickly sprinkled with tiny baby bean pods to
a few overlooked giant pods too tough to eat but good for seed.

It was dark when I left for work Friday morning so
I didn't notice anything amiss; however, when I rounded the
corner to the side garden I could only stand there stunned.

What Happened?

Oooooh.
I told you all that the deer were scoping out my beans.
So where did they go?

Into the Belly of the Beast.

I finally built a huge fence around both gardens that keeps everything but coons out. This time of year most other food is getting scarce so to get special stuff they go for gardens. Of course you can reclaim the beans in deer hunting season.

Well, at least you stored up some good karma by providing a meal for the furries. Isn't there something in the bible about farmers leaving some of their wheat for poor people? You kind of did that for the "poor animals".

Maybe you'll find a nice, fat deer come deer season.
Have a blessed week!

My beast has four short legs and a furry tail, a woodrat. He's been hanging around and it I didn't have all my remaining plants behind cages or out in the floating garden there wouldn't be a bite left. I don't like the looks of all the cages on the cabin deck, but it's the only way to protect my plants. - Margy
